VIRGINIA BEACH-Three teenagers are charged with carjacking at a popular Oceanfront parking garage.
Around 7:00 p.m. Saturday, police say two 18-year-olds, Andrew Kean and Cody Wilson, along with a 15-year-old boy, pulled a knife on a man in the 9th St parking garage.
The victim called police, who spotted the stolen vehicle on I-264. That's when, according to police, Kean got off on Independence Boulevard and turned onto Virginia Beach Boulevard and rear-ended a car.
The three bailed out but were caught a short time later, said MPO Jimmy Barnes.
Police say the owner of the car was not hurt.
Kean is charged with carjacking, conspiracy and hit and run; Wilson and the juvenile are charged with carjacking and conspiracy.
Police say there are no guards in the garages themselves, but officers randomly patrol them. Also, the city installed LED lights to make them even brighter.
Cameras watch over the entrances and exits, not the parking spaces.
