ELIZABETH CITY-- A driver was robbed of an unknown amount of cash by a man wielding a shotgun Thursday afternoon.

Police say around 4:25 p.m., they received a call of an Armed Robbery at 1015 North Road Street.

Officers were told by the victims that they had received a phone call from a friend asking that they come to Franklin Street and pick the friend up. When the victims arrived at Franklin Street, the friend got into the vehicle.

Then a black male brandishing a shotgun approached the driver's side of the vehicle demanding money. The driver gave the man an unknown amount of money, and the man ran away on foot.

The victims drove back to 1015 North Road Street and called the police.

The man was described as a heavy set, wearing a black or brown ski mask; a black t-shirt; and tan colored work pants.
