NORFOLK -- Another deceased dolphin was found in the Ocean View area of Norfolk, making it the third found there in a about a week.
The dolphin appeared to be in a decomposed state.
Many of the animals are too decomposed to offer much information, but samples from several fresher animals have been collected and will be analyzed, officials said Wednesday.
The most recent strandings appear to be almost exclusively males, of all ages and sizes.
No cause for the deaths has been uncovered, but the Stranding Response Team is working with the NOAA Fisheries to investigate.
The aquarium's stranding team picks up about 100 mammals each year. So far, in 2013 they have responded to 82 dolphins, with 44 in July alone.
