GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- Troopers from the North Carolina Highway Patrol said a teen driver died in a single-vehicle accident after shopping during Black Friday.
According to the trooper investigating the crash, Patrick Henry Boyd, 19, of Clover, South Carolina was killed after apparently falling asleep at the wheel.
Boyd's 2011 Honda Accord struck a sign at 1901 South Point Road.
Officials said there were four passengers in the car at the time of the crash, all of whom were asleep during impact.
According to the trooper, one of the passengers told authorities that Boyd mentioned he was tired.
Two of the passengers are in serious condition, and two had minor injuries.
