8/13 UPDATE: Firefighters say this is a case of arson.
People were seen running from the home just before the fire was discovered, said Assistant Chief Jeffrey Pereira.

HAMPTON -- Fire damaged a home in Hampton late Sunday.

It started just after 11 p.m. at a home on Pennsylvania Avenue. and the fire was so intense that it melted siding on neighboring homes.

No one was in the house at the time. Neighbors said the people who lived there moved out a few weeks ago.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
