VIRGINIA BEACH If you have an old car seat, recycle it for safety's sake.

All this month, Drive Safe Hampton Roads is collecting used child safety seats.

Each year, the drive collects hundreds of car seats -- some that could be dangerous.

'(If)it's missing some parts and its pieces, if it has no labels ... been involved in a crash. If you don't know where that safety seat has been, it could be hiding a multitude of dangerous issues,' says Mary Ann Rayment with the Virginia DMV.

Drop off locations are Wal-mart Superstores (except Williamsburg and Gloucester), DMV Customer Service Centers, AAAoffices.

In exchange, Wal-mart will give $5 gift cards.

For the third year, the car seats will be recycled as part of 13News' Project Green with TFC Recycling.
