MOYOCK, N.C.-- The pilot of a small, single engine plane was killed when his plane crashed into a field Wednesday night just south of Moyock in Currituck County.

According to Sheriff Susan Johnson, the aircraft went down around 6:23 p.m. just off of Cooper Garrett Road.

James Martin Jarvis, 59, who lived in Moyock, was using the plane to survey his farmland, Sheriff Susan Johnson said.

Nightingale had been dispatched but never transported the victim.

The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to be investigating the crash.
