VIRGINIA BEACH (AP) -- A former Virginia Beach contract worker convicted of stealing money from parking meters will spend four months in jail.
34-year-old Christopher Miles Williams was sentenced Tuesday in Virginia Beach Circuit Court.
Commonwealth's attorney spokeswoman Macie Pridgen tells The Virginian-Pilot that Williams received a seven-year sentence with all but four months suspended. He also must pay $539 in restitution.
Williams pleaded guilty in February to felony embezzlement, conspiracy and failure to appear in court.
A co-defendant, 52-year-old Mark Anthony Apperson received a two-month sentence in March.
Police arrested the men last June after they were seen loading a large amount of coins into a change machine inside a grocery store, and then driving away in a parking enforcement vehicle.
