HAMPTON--Hundreds of veterans and military spouses packed the Hampton Roads Convention Center to find jobs and get advice on working in the civilian world.

About 130 companies took part in Thursday's Hiring Our Heroes job fair, which is part of an effort to improve the jobless rate among veterans.

Despite their feelings about the economy, many of those looking for jobs today were optimistic that they'd find jobs.

The Hiring our Heroes campaign, which started in March 2011, has helped 10,000 veterans and military spouses find jobs.

The job fair in Hampton ends at 2:00 p.m.
