HAMPTON -- A child shot in the head Monday night in his parents' bedroom has died.

The shooting happened shortly after 6:00 p.m. in a home on Flinton Drive.

Sgt. Jason Price said 2-year-old Bilal Amin was inside a closet in his parents' bedroom on the second floor. His 4-year-old and year-old siblings and his mother were home at the time.

Detectives were working to determine if the 2-year-old shot himself, as initially thought, or if the 4-year-old might have gotten hold of the gun.

The mother sat on the driveway of the home rocking back and forth Monday night. Her husband rushed into the neighborhood on a motorcycle, jumping off it, then racing towards the house.

'They are real good people, real, real, good people,' neighbor Russell Wyche told 13News. 'No parent should have to go through that, and they take good care of their kids, good care of their kids, and just, for something to happen like that, it's just, it's unbelievable.'

Police believe the shooting was an accident.
