VIRGINIA BEACH --The start of a new school year brought with it new technology for students to use in class.

In Va. Beach, high school student Austin Chambers had his iPad with him. He says he uses it to do research and make excel spreadsheets, although he admits Facebook is always up on his screen.

While students like being able to have their own iPads, some of them said they're concerned about someone stealing them or breaking them.

Chambers believes it's worth the risk.

Schools in Hampton and York Co. also let students bring their own technology. In Chesapeake, students can bring e-readers.
