WAKE CO., NC-- The Wake County School Board postponed the announcement of the district's new superintendent Tuesday.
The Board was supposed to meet about a new superintendent during a work session at 4 p.m. today. An announcement was expected at some point during the meeting.
The Board of Education says the announcement will be made in the near future.
Virginia Beach Superintendent Dr. James G. Merrill is one of three finalists for the open superintendent job.
The new superintendent would replace Tony Tata, who was fired by the board's Democratic majority in September. Tata is now North Carolina's secretary of transportation.
