Troopers said Humberto Gutierrez-Fuentevilla, 56, of Suffolk died at Riverside Regional Medical Center. He was a passenger in a van involved in the wreck that happened at the intersection of Carrollton Boulevard and Sugar Hill Road.

Police said shortly before 11:30 a.m., James Turner, IV of Carrollton was driving a pick-up truck on Sugar Hill Road. As he went through the intersection with Carrollton Boulevard, he allegedly pulled into the path of a van driven by Mayra Lopez-Contreras, 33, of Suffolk.

Turner was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Turner was wearing a seat belt.

Paramedics took Lopez-Contreras to Bayview Hospital in Suffolk for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Her 4-year-old son, Anthony Lopez, also went to Bayview for treatment of minor injuries.

39-year-old Gloria Perez, who also was in the van, still is being treated at Riverside where Gutierrez-Fuentevilla died.

Police charged Turner with Reckless Driving.
