NORFOLK -- Norfolk Sheriff Bob McCabe and Chesapeake Sheriff Jim O'Sullivan played Santa to hundreds of people in each of their cities Monday.

Some 100 families and organizations in each city were identified for the holiday deliveries to be made by the sheriffs and their deputies.

PortAlliance provided turkeys and some of the trimmings. Employees from each sheriff's office pitched in with additional food items.

McCabe and O'Sullivan said that while their focus is always about safe communities, their daily duties expose them to needs in the community that neither sheriff can ignore. It's their hope these baskets are the making of a Christmas dinner that some might not otherwise enjoy.
