CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC -- The Wright Memorial Bridge is now open and entry into Dare County is no longer restricted.

Emergency management officials say Currituck County sustained little damage as the hurricane made its way up the coast early Friday morning.

Despite Arthur strengthening to a Category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 100 mph, a slight shift to the east helped to limit the damage in the area.

So far, there have been no reports of injuries or major property damage, officials said. Crews have received reports of some downed trees, but none that affect any roadways.

If residents have experienced a power outage, they are urged to contact Dominion Power at 1-866-DOM-HELP.
