UPDATE 8/5: Police have opened up Colley Avenue to normal traffic. The 800 block of W. Princess Anne Road remains closed. The driver of the tractor trailer has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and illegal right turn.

NORFOLK -- A tractor-trailer knocked down power lines at a busy Norfolk intersection during the morning commute.

The rig stopped after pulling down the lines at W. Princess Anne Road and Colley Avenue a little after 9 a.m.

Police are directing traffic at Maury and Colley Ave., diverting traffic toward Hampton Blvd. on Maury. Officers are diverting traffic at Colonial Ave and W. Princess Anne so no traffic an go west on W. Princess Anne. Officers also are stationed at Graydon Ave. and Colley Avenue and Hampton Blvd. and W. Princess Anne Road.

Dominion Virginia Power crews are working to make repairs. According to the company's Web site, a handful of customers in the area are without electricity.

The incident is under investigation.
