CHESAPEAKE - A six-year-old girl was flown to the hospital after falling from a horse.

It happened around 10:25 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Head of River Road in Chesapeake.

Fire and Rescue spokesman Capt. Scott Saunders the child was with a teacher, on private property, when the horse sped up. The girl apparently fell off and landed on her head.

Initially, the child was reported as being unconscious, but she was was conscious and breathing when rescue crews got there, Saunders stated.

Her condition wasn't immediately known.
