NEWPORT NEWS - A pizza delivery driver helped police nab one of two people who had just robbed him.
Police say the driver had attempted to deliver an order to a home on Rebecca Place around 11:25 p.m. Monday, and although the lights were on, nobody had come to the door. While walking back to his vehicle, two people, one with a gun, robbed the driver of cash and food.
'The driver was able to follow one of the suspects, who left the area on a bicycle, and remained on the phone with the police dispatcher until police arrived and detained the suspect,' said police spokesman Lou Thurston.
He added that the suspect, a 17-year-old woman, had a gun with her.
She's charged with one count each of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony (all felonies) and misdemeanor possession of a firearm under the age of 18.
The second suspect wasn't caught and there was no description available except that the person was wearing black clothing.
