NORFOLK-An elevated walkway at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk was damaged by a garbage disposal truck.

An officer at the scene said the trash truck had its lift arm up and it struck the walkway by the emergency entrance off Raleigh Avenue Tuesday morning.

Battalion Chief Mike Hicks told it wasn't immediately clear whether there was a malfunction in the hydraulics or whether the driver made an error.

No one was hurt.

Hicks also said officials requested a structural evaluation of the walkway and inspectors determined it was safe to use. There was no damage to the support structure itself.
