5/28/14 UPDATE: Brian and Shannon Gore were served with direct indictments alleging one count each of Felony Child Neglect and Felony Homicide.
The charges are a result of additional information received about the remains of a child found buried under the shed in 2011, said Gloucester Commonwealth's Attorney Holly B. Smith.
An infant boy was found buried in the back yard of their home in the Waterview Mobile Home Park.
No trial date has been set.

GLOUCESTER- A Gloucester couple was sentenced to 30 years in prison Monday afternoon for keeping their six-year-old daughter in a makeshift cage.

Brian and Shannon Gore pleaded guilty in March to felony child abuse just as their trial was about to begin. They also entered an Alford plea to malicious wounding.

Sheriff's deputies came across the situation while investigating a burglary at the Gore's mobile home in April 2011. They said the little girl was naked, covered in feces and malnourished and was in a crib that had been made into a cage with a piece of wood as a top.

The judge sentenced each of them to 10 years for the felony child abuse charge and 20 years for aggravated malicious wounding.

The girl was taken to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters for treatment and is living with a foster family.
