PORTSMOUTH-The old Cradock High School could be demolished this Spring.

Neighbors next to the building off George Washington Highway have been pushing to have the building torn down for two decades.

Portsmouth Councilman Danny Meeks says the city and a private developer will finalize a deal for the property this month.

Once that happens, crews will raze the school and prepare the 40-acres of land for 200 homes.

The city rezoned the property for the housing development back in 2011.
