CHESAPEAKE -- Four schools in the Western Branch area of Chesapeake were on lock down Thursday afternoon after a bus driver reported seeing an armed man in the area.

According to Chesapeake Public School spokeswoman Kellie Goral, Western Branch High School, Western Branch Middle School, Western Branch Intermediate and Western Branch Primary were all on lockdown as a precaution.

According to police, a white man in his early 20s, who was wearing desert camouflage and carrying a long gun, was seen near Bruin Drive and Radcliffe Lane.

The police canvassed the area for nearly 30 minutes. The suspicious male was not located.

The lock-down lasted about 30 minutes but has been lifted.
