VIRGINIA BEACH -- There was a steady stream of people leaving flowers and balloons at Beach Pharmacy following the shooting death of pharmacist David Kilgore during an attempted robbery Monday.

Many stood in front of the mom-and-pop business, turned crime scene, to take in the image for a moment.

One of Kilgore's customers, Gretchen Hagwood, says she's been coming to the pharmacy longer than she can remember. She prays his family keeps the store open and that people will know Kilgore had true compassion for people.

Another customer said he hopes Kilgore's wife, who is also a pharmacist, will consider running the store and not let tragedy end a 'family legacy of care.'
