NEWPORT NEWS -- A$4 million hangar/office space complex atNewportNews-Williamsburg International Airport means 51 news jobs.

The complexwill be the corporate headquarters forOrion Air Group andallow the company to expandits air operations center.

Orion will add the jobs within the next year. The jobs will havean average annual salary of $81,569, according to company officials.

Lt.Gov.Bill Bolling, along with Newport News Vice Mayor Joseph Whitaker and the Peninsula Airport Commission joined officials ofOrion Air Group with the official groundbreaking Friday morning.

Orion Air Group is a privately-owned aviation services firm with government and commecial clients. The company, headquartered in Yorktown, outgrew its current location.

'Weare delighted to be in a position to construct our new headquarters facility in Newport News,'saidScott Terry, Orion Air Group's President. 'Orion is hopeful that our investment at this airport and in the community will serve as a catalyst for our customers and suppliers to consider similar projects here as well.

Orion Air Group owns and operates more than $150 million worth of corporate aircraft and is the world's largest operator of the Bombardier Global Express business jet. The company operates from eight locations in the US and abroad while employing more than 100 aviation professionals.

Lt.Gov Bolling added,'Clearly, Orion recognizes that Virginia is a great place to do business and they want to be part of the future growth that will occur on Virginia's Peninsula.'

The project is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
