DARE COUNTY -- Dare County Emergency Management is looking into a loud boom reported off shore Tuesday night.

The boom could be heard off shore from Nags Head to Duck on the Outer Banks, the agency tweeted. No damage has been reported.

It is unclear what caused the incident. The United States Coast Guard has been notified.
