NORFOLK -- Concern over the safety at an HRT bus stop has forced leaders to close it down.

Bus riders will no longer be able to use the Route 25 stop near the Princess Anne Road and Lynnhaven Parkway intersection.

HRT officials say the stop is on a busy stretch of road where the speed limit is 45 miles per hour.

'It just wasn't the right place for a bus stop,' said HRT spokesperson Tom Holden.

Riders that use the route, which travels from Military Circle Mall in Norfolk to Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach, say it was an accident waiting to happen.

'You have to take your life into your own hands because there is a blind spot,' said rider Marla Williams.

HRT officials are encouraging riders who used the stop to utilize the stop east of the Princess Anne and Lynnhaven intersection, near Home Depot.
