HAMPTON - Arrangements are being made to clear an oak tree that fell on some tombstones and opened a gravesite at a Hampton cemetery.

John Bane, the attorney who oversees the Oakland Cemetery Association, says the city made him aware of the situation this morning.

The tree fell during the summer and, for several weekends now, volunteers have been cutting it up. The massive trunk is too much for their equipment and they're concerned about who'll repair the damaged vault.

Banes says he'll make sure the tree is removed and the vault is restored.
