NORFOLK-- A suspect was arrested after he led police on a high speed car chase through Chesapeake and Norfolk Friday afternoon.

Police say the pursuit began around 3:30 p.m. when a Chesapeake Fire Marshal saw a Grey Pontiac speeding on Atlantic Avenue heading towards Norfolk.

Police say the Marshal tried to pull the car over but he kept going. Police say he sped to Campostella Road, over the bridge, and into Norfolk on Brambleton Ave.

The suspect ended up on Rugby Street, where he jumped out of his car and a foot pursuit ensued.

Police say that after a 10 minute chase, Chesapeake and Norfolk officers were able to take the suspect into custody at Galt and Bracey Streets.

Charges are pending against the suspect.
