NORFOLK -- Fire crews battled a house fire in the 900 block of Louisa Street in the Berkley section of Norfolk Wednesday morning.
Officials said heavy smoke was coming was out of the house when they arrived on the scene.
Despite initial reports from neighbors that an elderly person was still inside the house, fire rescue crews found no one inside and no injuries were reported.
Officials said the fire is under control, but there was substantial damage the the house.
The fire marshal is on scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
The Red Cross was asked to help 3 adults and 3 children under the age of 15 who were displaced by the fire.
Officials say the street should reopen around 12:30 p.m.
