CHESAPEAKE -- ABC's morning show, Good morning America, featured a local story on Friday, July 5th, about two Navy wives who have lost nearly 300 pounds together.

Diane Ritchie and Anne Moyer decided to start their weight loss journey in 2010, after Moyer was diagnosed with sleep apnea.

Now, they both fit together in one pair of jeans that one of them used to wear.

While they both used slightly different techniques, it was a combination of dieting and regular exercise that helped them reach their goals.

Moyer used an iPhone app to count her calories, while cutting out soda and enriched flour from her diet.

Ritchie followed the South Beach Diet, which replaces bad carbohydrates with good carbs and fats, lean protein, and low-fat dairy.

It took them a while to get used to the new diets, but once they adjusted, they focused on exercise.

They started slow, walking for a few minutes at a time, and gradually building until they could join group fitness classes.

Ritchie's husband wrote in to CNN's iReport about their inspirational story, and a CNN reporter picked it up and wrote a piece.

Then Good Morning America invited them to do a segment.
