NORFOLK--One person has been charged for allegedly manufacturing meth at Ben Moreell military housing, officials said Monday.

Maria Williams, 34, is charged with three counts of manufacturing methamphetamine and one count of possessing two or more precursors with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine.

Hazmat crews responded to the 500 block of Eiler Street on July 3 after a plastic bag was discovered allegedly containing methamphetamine pre-cursors and three pots that contained meth residue.

Officials say the items in the bag were safely dismantled by the DEA team.

Williams is a military dependent who was charged two weeks ago with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.

Officials say Williams' husband was not involved and was 'unaware of what was taking place inside the residence while he was out of town.'

Residents say they weren't allowed to go into their homes while HAZMAT and other authorities worked at the scene.
