WILLIAMSBURG-- A James City County man has been arrested after allegedly leaving his baby alone in a hot vehicle.

Police have charged 24-year-old Gregory Crawford with felony child neglect.

According to police, parking enforcement workers discovered the 10-month-old girl around 11 a.m. Tuesday near Nassau and Prince George streets in Williamsburg.

Police say no one was with or near the child, the car was not running, and the air conditioner was not on. The child was sweating, crying, and initially appeared to be in some distress, according to police.

Crawford returned to the vehicle within minutes of the child being discovered.

The child did not require any medical attention. The baby was released to her mother once she arrived at the scene.

Crawford is being held at Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail on a $3000 bond.
