HAMPTON--The City of Hampton is considering an inspection program for rental properties in almost a dozen neighborhoods.

City Council will consider the proposal at Wednesday's council meeting.

The program is aimed at making sure residents are living in safe and sanitary conditions, and trying to eliminate blight, which can sometimes attract criminal activity.

Some neighborhood associations have asked to be included in the program, including Sussex.

Other communities being considered for the rental inspection program include: Holly Homes, Fordham, South Phoebus, Old Hampton, Shell Road Corridor, South Wythe, Old Northampton and Langley, Hampton Club and Magruder Heights.
