PORTSMOUTH -- Some neighbors are fighting to demolish an abandoned high school in Portsmouth.
Cradock High School, built in 1954, has been boarded up for more than a decade. It closed in 1992.
'It's been attracting rats and homeless people,' Councilman Bill Moody said.
Over the past four years, the city has tried to sell the property to Coastal Development Company, but the deal has not gone through.
Moody says families are upset that people are dumping trash on the curb outside the school.
The city has an ordinance where trash is not supposed to be set on the curb until the day before the pickup.
'It's pretty horrendous and widespread out there,' Moody said.
