NORFOLK- An hour-long, high-speed chase through three cities ended with an arrest Saturday afternoon.
Police took 20-year-old Deshawn Savage into custody near the corner of Olney Road and Tidewater Drive, where officers said he abandoned his 2008 black Chrysler Sebring.
The chase started around 1:40 p.m. near the intersection of Liberty Street and Cascade Boulevard in Chesapeake. Officers attempted to stop Savage for having illegally tinted windows.
Police said Savage drove off, leading officers through Chesapeake and Virginia Beach before bailing out of his car in Norfolk.
Savage's girlfriend, who didn't want to be identified, told 13News Now she was inside the car and begged Savage to stop the car.
She said after he did stop, she followed Savage and another man who was in the car to a home in Calvert Square.
'The girl that lived there, she was saying she didn't even know that they was in there,' explained Luvenia Baynes, who lives next door to where the chase ended.
Chesapeake police soon found Savage hiding inside the home and arrested him.
13News Now saw Norfolk police detaining the other man; however, officers did not file charges against him.
Savage's girlfriend, who also was not charged, said her boyfriend decided to run because of an outstanding warrant.
Savage has 35 outstanding warrants, according to Chesapeake police.
No one was hurt during the pursuit.
