SUFFOLK -- Snow removal efforts continue in Suffolk Thursday after 10 inches of snow fell this week.

Police say there have been 13 weather-related accidents and advise that primary roads, as well as bridges, are passable. They encourage drivers to continue to use extreme caution.

Power outages are affecting 142 Dominion Virginia Power customers.

Public Works officials say all primary roadways were cleared by 9 p.m. Wednesday evening. Crews continued to monitor primary roadways throughout the night to address areas that needed attention due to re-freezing issues. Crews moved into the neighborhood secondary roadways Wednesday evening. Crews also concentrated on clearing turn lanes and intersections on all primary and secondary roadways.

Maintenance crews continue to work 24-hours a day on 12-hour shifts, officials said.

In the event the SPSA Landfill re-opens tomorrow, trash collection will resume on Friday and Monday.

Officials ask that drivers remove their parked vehicles from the roadways in residential neighborhoods where possible, so that snow plows are not impeded in accessing these areas.
