VIRGINIA BEACH- It's a sight nobody wants to see: the flash of a red light camera going off as you race through an intersection.

For most drivers, there's no forgiveness once you're caught on camera, but a 13News Now investigation has found that's not the case for city workers.

Tonight at 6 p.m. on 13NewsNow, find out why city workers across the state, including law enforcement, are above the law and exempt from paying traffic fines when they're caught running red light cameras.

'Our [administrative regulation] does not have a provision for the employee paying,' said Chesapeake Human Resources Director DL Mears. 'It's a disciplinary matter.'

Our investigation also uncovered some city employees caught running red lights in Virginia Beach but never being disciplined and not being forced to pay a fine.
