NORFOLK -- Fog was the weather word of day - or at least the morning Wednesday.

Advisories were posted at most of the bridges and tunnels in Hampton Roads to warn drivers to use extra care.

'Many areas have experienced visibility below half a mile. The fog will burn off by mid-to-late morning, though,' said 13News Now Meteorologist Craig Moeller.

The foggy conditions delayed two school systems on the Eastern Shore - Accomack Co. and Northampton Co. schools issued a two-hour delay.

After the fog lifts, skies will be partly sunny with a low risk of a stray afternoon shower or storm, but expect more rain Friday.

'A large storm system crossing the central U.S. this morning will bring more widespread rain and potential storms to our region Friday morning. The rain could be heavy through the morning commute, but should wind down later in the day,' Moeller adds.
