NEWPORT NEWS -- Newport News Police are working to make arrests after a violent weekend in which three people were shot, one of them didn't survive.

They have a suspect in one case - 21-year-old Daniel Lewis King, Junior. He's wanted in connection with a shooting at an apartment complex on Wesley Pond Court Sunday.

On Saturday, a 32-year-old mother was killed after she was shot in the head on Jefferson Avenue during an apparent home invasion. More on that story

Saturday night, a stray bullet hit a pastor as he sat at his desk preparing his Sunday sermon.

'(I) Looked at my hand and I saw blood in it. I said 'Oh my God, I've been shot' and then I got up and the pellet fell to the floor,' he said.

Newport News Police Chief Richard Myers says he's frustrated at the crime, including the death of 71-year-Joseph Williams, who got caught in the middle of a gunfight.

'There are people who live in Newport News who know who the folks was shooting at each other when the deacon was hit back in January. If that doesn't mobilize a neighborhood and the community, what will?'

Chief Myers says it's important that people who have information come forward.
