7:30 a.m. UPDATE:The number of people without power was 3,188.

VIRGINIA BEACH -- About 3,000 customers in Virginia Beach were without power early Tuesday.

Police are on the scene of an apparent transformer fire at Indian River Road and Lynnhaven Parkway and report that some traffic lights and power are out. So drive with caution if you're in the area.

A spokesperson says an animal got into the transformer, causing a fire.

Dominion Power is making repairs.Crews expect to have power restored between 10 a.m. and noon.

In Birdneck Acres, a tree fell on power lines around 5:40 a.m. The lines were down and the tree was across the road in the 1100 block of Bluebird Drive.

And around 4:45 a.m., a trash truck snagged a power line behind a grocery story in the 500 block of Laskin Road, not far from Birdneck Acres. Dominion had to but power so the rig and driver could be safely moved.

There was no word on how long it will take for power to be restored.
