WASHINGTON, DC -- The First Family set aside some time to remember, and give thanks Thursday.

President Obama tweeted a picture of his family to wish Americans a very Happy Holiday.

He acknowledged that the picture was taken a few years ago, but says it embraces a happy spirit.

In the president's Thanksgiving Day Address, he urged Americans to come together as a nation.

'Thanksgiving is a chance to put it all in perspective - to remember that, despite our differences, we are, and always will be, Americans first and foremost,' said President Obama.

The White House says the First Family spent Thanksgiving with friends, family, and staff members.
