FOREST, Va. (AP) -- Five teenagers are facing charges they stole and then destroyed a nativity scene from a church in Bedford County.

According to media reports, the Bedford County Sheriff's Office said the five were arrested Tuesday after the 12-piece Christmas scene was reported missing over the weekend from Shiloh United Methodist Church in Forest.

The sheriff's office released a photo of the teens that showed them posing with the figures.

The set had an estimated value of $2,000 to $2,500.

The teenagers face charges of grand larceny, trespass and property damage.

When church council chairman Kenneth Revis learned of the theft he hoped the nativity scene would be returned in time for Christmas. He said, 'You just don't steal from Jesus and get away with it.'
