GLOUCESTER CO-- Three children and their grandmother died in an early morning house fire in Gloucester County Wednesday.

The Gloucester County Sheriff's Office says the ages of the children were 6 months, 2 years and 7 years.

Superintendent Ben Kiser from Gloucester County Public Schools says the oldest child, a boy, was a second grader at Bethel Elementary School.

Kiser says the school psychologist and extra staff were with the boy's class today and spent time answering the children's questions.

'Our first priority was to just wrap our arms around those children and make sure that they are given all the comfort and encouragement as we can during a tragic time like this,' Kiser said.

Authorities say six people lived in the home.

According to family members, Virginia Grogan escaped the fire but re-entered the burning house to try to save her grandchildren.

The sheriff's office says two other adults who escaped the fire were taken to a nearby hospital. They are listed in fair and stable condition.
