PORTSMOUTH-A man wanted for months by Portsmouth Police is now in custody.

Police say 46-year-old Kenneth Anthony Gore was one of the city's most wanted.

Gore is accused of assaulting a man on Edwards Street in December. Police say he hit a 33-year-old man in the head with a gun, knocking him to the ground, and then shot at him. The bullet missed but it hit the ground near the victim's head.

Gore was spotted around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and, after short foot chase on Seventh Street, he was caught when an officer fired a tazer, investigators said.

Gore is charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, brandishing a firearm and reckless handling of a firearm.
