NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- An Old Dominion University graduate program is the first of its kind in the United States to be accredited by NATO.

ODU says its graduate program in international studies has recently been accredited by NATO as a selected program for alliance members' education and training. No other civilian academic institutions have earned that designation by NATO.

NATO will promote the master's program to its 28 member nations.

ODU is located in Norfolk, which is also home to NATO's Allied Command Transformation. The ODU program and NATO have also collaborated on several crisis simulation events that provide real-time decision-making experience for the program's students.
