PORTSMOUTH -- People gathered at City Park Sunday evening to remember 17-year-old Talon Cohen.

The Woodrow Wilson High School student died Thursday morning when his car and a truck collided at Jacquelyn Drive and Portsmouth Boulevard.

Cohen and his friend, Mark Parker, were on their way to school.

Parker survived the crash. Cohen did not.

'It might be hard, but he'd want us to stay strong and be happy, and he would want us to live our dreams,' said Kristi Wilder.

She and Cohen started dating 2 years ago. Cohen asked her out for the first time at City Park.

'We we're really tight, back in like, elementary school. Every weekend, every summer we were together, so, he was probably my best friend,' Cohen's cousin Cody Sivertson told 13News Now.

'He was amazing. He always had goofy stuff. He was funny, and forgiving,' said Wilder.

Wilder hopes the City will look at the intersection where the crash happened. She considers it dangerous, and wants Portsmouth to see if anything needs to be done to improve safety there, then make changes if necessary.

Cohen's viewing also took place Sunday night. His funeral is Monday.
