PORTSMOUTH -- Fire swept through the garage of a Portsmouth home early Friday.

Crews were called to 327 Dinwiddie Street just before 1:30 a.m. after a neighbor called 9-1-1. They arrived to find flames pouring from the cottage garage.

Early indications are the fire started in the back and spread to the second floor.

Captain Mike Stockton said the homeowners were asleep when fire crews arrived and weren't hurt.

The home is for sale and the owners recently moved more items into the garage, he said.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
