VIRGINIA BEACH (AP) -- Virginia's congressional delegation is praising the local, state and military response after a Navy fighter jet crashed into their apartment complex in Virginia Beach earlier this month.
All 13 members of the delegation joined in a letter Tuesday to U.S. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus to praise what they called 'seamless coordination.'
'The F/A-18D Hornet crashed April 6 just after taking off from Naval Air Station Oceana. No one was killed, but dozens of apartments were damaged or destroyed by the impact or fire from the crash.
In the letter, the delegation said that there's no question that the coordination between all parties prevented additional casualties and property losses. They also praised the efforts of local residents who quickly pulled the two Navy pilots to safety and then helped fire crews.
