UPDATE 10/2: Virginia Hale pleaded guilty to three charges stemming from the April 2013 assault of a teen in her backyard that left him with a brain injury, according to the Virginian Pilot.
Hale pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice, giving false statements to police and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, the Pilot reported.
VIRGINIA BEACH--A Virginia Beach woman has been charged after allegedly watching a teenager hit another teen with a baseball bat, causing life-threatening injuries.
Police arrested 56-year-old Virginia Ann Hale of the 2900 block of Lynnhaven Drive Wednesday and charged her with obstruction of justice, four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and making false statements to police.
Police say on April 7, a 17-year-old male hit another 17-year-old with a bat in the 2900 block of Lynnhaven Drive until the victim was semi-conscious and unable to stand.
It was initially reported the victim was intoxicated and injured himself after falling.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. There is no word on the current condition of the victim.
The teenager was charged with malicious assault and transported to the Virginia Beach Juvenile Detention Center.
Hale was released on bond.
The case remains under investigation.
