VIRGINIA BEACH-- They lost their children to suicide; since that time Elaine Roberts and Kathy Wakefield have raised awareness for depression and suicide.

For the 6th straight year, they helped organize the 'Beacon of Hope Run Walk.' The goal is to make people aware of depression and to encourage them to seek help.

This race began at 24th Street Park and follows the board walk along the oceanfront ending once again at 24th Street Park.

All proceeds from the race support the programs of 'I Need A Lighthouse, Inc.' The mission is to significantly reduce the loss and suffering from teen and young adult depression, suicide, and suicidal behavior through educational programs and community partnerships.
